Clement Aloysius O’Donnell Sr. started doing small repairs and installing new roofs with a roofing and sheet metal company in Philadelphia. His ambition led him to become a skilled roofing mechanic and entrepreneur.
C. A. O’Donnell Roofing and Heating was established by Clement along with a sheet metal fabrication shop at 56th and Lansdowne Ave. in West Philadelphia.
Clement Aloysius Jr. took the reins from his father and maintained our core values for the nearly 30-year history. He explored newer options in roofing and siding as a more cost-effective way to meet client’s needs and expanded the company’s service to the Philadelphia suburbs.
Clement Jr.’s son, Laurence (Larry), renamed and incorporated O’Donnell Roofing Co. He expanded our services to include commercial roofing and historic restoration. Several of Larry’s restoration projects garnered attention, including projects at Longwood Gardens, Merion Train Station, Pomona Hall in Camden, among others.
Larry saw a future in photovoltaic solar power. He began studying and learning the intricacies of completing a solar project and sold his first job months later.
After spending time in Vermont studying business, Kevin returned to the area and committed himself to the family business. Having already had roofing experience from his youth, he quickly became a journeyman roofer and jobsite foreman. A short time later, Kevin began focusing on sales and growth of the business.
Larry stepped down from being President and passed the business over to Kevin. Kevin then focused on applying the newest roof-related technology, and O’Donnell Roofing Co. became a certified and licensed installer of the top brands of exterior products. His in-depth knowledge of roofing, carpentry, and electrical allowed the company to broaden our service offerings, and expand the company to what it is today.
We purchased our first physical location, 8501 Lansdowne Avenue. After completing substantial renovations and additions, we moved in early 2019.
We purchased our first satellite location, 1057 E. Lancaster Avenue, right along the Main Line in Berwyn. Our sales team works out of that office and also serves as a showroom for our customers.
Larry claims he will be retired by then, but we think he will continue to be a project manager, focusing on quality control, troubleshooting leaks and providing ongoing training to our installers and estimators.
